healthcare informatics webinar with Meta Analytix
|
We recently interviewed Kishore Nair, President and CIO of Meta Analytix, in advance of our joint webinar on May 20th entitled, “Healthcare Informatics – Turning Data into Actionable Information.”
Q: Who is Meta Analytix and what do you do? A: Meta Analytix is a full-service informatics solution firm, focused on the healthcare market. We bring a broad portfolio of baseline solutions to our clients, which are then customized to fit their unique needs by our experienced implementation teams, based on our proven architecture, application designs and best practices. Of course, companies can buy the individual data integration and business intelligence products required to build their own informatics solutions, but that could cost hundreds of thousand dollars before they write a single line of code. By working with Meta Analytix, these companies can start their projects on “step 50” instead of “step 1.”
Q: What are the unique data integration requirements for healthcare analytics? A: The biggest challenge for all informatics applications – but especially in a healthcare setting – is creating standardized data definitions. There are several industry standards and organizations promoting standards in the healthcare market – such as Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terms (SNOMED) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) -- but the current solutions are not yet comprehensive and adoption is not yet widespread.
This is why expressor is such a boon for this market. Its semantic metadata dictionary enables the user to create their own standardized data definitions or incorporate standards that have already been defined like SNOMED at the beginning of the informatics initiative, a best practice that saves time and money in the long run.
Q: What are your goals for the webinar on May 20th and what are you planning to discuss? A: I want to make sure that people attending the webinar learn three things: why planning is so important for healthcare informatics initiatives, how to avoid the typical pitfalls that stand in the way of success, and strategies for reducing their total cost of ownership. I’m looking forward to our webinar and fielding any tough questions from participants!
