expressor estimation tool

Channels — the data streams running between two operators in the expressor semantic data processing system — determine the parallelism of an application. expressor introduces a fundamentally new channel-based pricing model for its data integration software, significantly reducing the total cost of ownership associated with DI projects.

This two-in-one estimation tool calculates either the number of channels needed to complete a data processing task within a given period of time, or the amount of time needed to complete a task using a specified number of channels.

example

For any given application on a 16-cpu (1.5 GHz) Windows 2003 R2 enterprise server, the maximum level of parallel data flow between any two operations is eight. To process 110 Gb of data in one hour would require 4 channels (processing time: 1 hour; cpu speed: 1.5; cpu cores: 16; gigabytes: 110).

Data processing parallelism between operators is dependent on the number of channels connecting them. Click on the time estimator link, increase the channels to 24, and recalculate. This estimates the process time at about 10 minutes.
