The User Experience (UX) Architect will be responsible for collaborating with the technology team to define the overall user experience for expressor products. The UX architect will work to understand user goals, business goals, technology and design constraints to create a user experience that will deliver success.
Deliverables include usability requirements, user experience design specifications, process/task flows, wireframes, usability testing plans, UT analysis & recommendations, heuristic reviews, personas, and interactive prototypes. The candidate should have experience designing user experiences for enterprise software products.
role & responsibilities
The User Experience Architect will:
- lead the definition of usability requirements and establish common usability goals
- create usable UI designs by applying user research findings, design standards, industry best practices and strategic business objectives while understanding system constraints
- work closely with engineering and product management to ensure usability deliverables are incorporated into project timelines and schedules
- lead the iterative design review process with project teams, acquiring consensus and approvals on designs and documentation; communicate user experiences through storyboarding, detailed wireframes, task flow diagrams, design specifications and other documentation
- conduct user research through surveys, interviews, focus groups, card-sorting, etc.
- plan and conduct usability testing, including remote testing; this includes creating test strategies and plans, test scenarios and tasks, screening participants, facilitating usability testing and providing usability recommendations
- contribute to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of efficient & effective usability methodology/process, documentation, workflow, ROI, metrics and design standards
- act as a usability advocate and consultant to project teams providing expert guidance and thought leadership regarding principles of information architecture, user-centered design and the latest industry trends and best practices
software & technologies
The User Experience Architect should have experience with the following:
- Morae & UserVue or equivalents for remote usability testing
- Visio or equivalent for static and interactive wireframing and prototyping
- MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project for analysis, scheduling, and reporting
- Adobe Photoshop & screen capture software
- familiarity with Microsoft .NET framework is a plus
requirements
- minimum Bachelor’s degree in HCI/Human Factors/Usability or related discipline preferred
- minimum 6 years of relevant human factors/usability work experience
- proven success as an UX generalist capable of leading efforts throughout the product development cycle, including user research, early prototyping, detailed design and validation
- demonstrated ability to incorporate UCD principles into the architecture and design of user interfaces
- must have a portfolio with examples of relevant interaction design work
- experience preparing and conducting user-centered research techniques including customer visits, usability studies, surveys, and feedback sessions
- experience improving the usability of enterprise software with experience designing UIs for both thin and thick client applications
- must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced development environment
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- experience in data integration, data warehousing, or metadata management is a strong asset
- an understanding of 508 accessibility design issues is a plus
