Senior Field Engineer - Burlington, MA

Location: Burlington, MA

Description: Provide pre-sales technical support for customers, partners, and expressor sales force including but not limited to:  presentations, demonstrations, proof of concepts (POC’s), prototypes and technical account planning. 

responsibilities

  • Technical qualification of prospective customers and partners.
  • Document customer requirements, use cases, needs analysis and computing environment of prospective and current customers.
  • Coordinate review of customer use case objectives with appropriate company team members including; product management, engineering, customer support, sales management and partnering organizations.
  • Install and configure the expressor semantic data integration system at customer sites and provide product mentoring.
  • Provide product demonstration of the complete product suite.
  • Present product capabilities and handle technical objections on sales calls and at marketing events.
  • Troubleshoot customer problems post installation with customer support.
  • Represent new customer enhancement requirements to product and sales management.
  • Work with partners to assure consistent and quality solutions are being implemented to assure high levels of customer satisfaction.

requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical degree.
  • Ability to work from requirements and specifications to derive a set of customer objectives and test cases which are thorough, optimal and complete.
  • Must be able to research and interview effectively to obtain technical information for POC tasks.
  • Ability to articulate product status and issues.
  • Ability to work in a sales environment and travel extensively.
  • Ability to work in self directed manner but take direction and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Ability to work on a development team in an iterative environment.
  • 5 years of related work experience with ETL/data integration software.
  • Experience with data integration software such as; Informatica PowerCenter, Ab Initio Software, IBM Information Server (DataStage), Trillium Software System, Oracle Data Integrator, Business Objects, Data Integrator, SAS, Syncsort, Pervasive, DataFlux, etc.
  • Experience with message-oriented middleware and complex event processing software such as; TIBCO Rendezvous, webMethods Product Suite, Websphere MQ, MSMQ, StreamBase, SonicMQ, etc.
  • Experience with data transformation, scripting languages, and SQL.

  • Experience with products and technologies for data warehousing, compliance, and data governance.
  • Experience with UNIX.
  • Experience with RDBMS configuration (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Teradata, Netezza) and SQL.
  • Experience with other scripting languages (Unix/Linux Shell, Perl, Lua, VB, etc.).
  • Experience with native mainframe environments.
  • Experience with data profiling, data quality management, and metadata management.
  • Experience with J2EE application servers.
